The 50 year-old Yamhill County courthouse needs $17M in upgrades, but is ranked 24 of 48 statewide that need work, so state funding support is likely some ways away ... until it is in even worse condition.
Statewide study estimates cost of courthouse repairs at $17 million | Newsregister.com:
A state study completed last year and delivered Wednesday to a legislative committee puts the cost of dealing with deficiencies in the Yamhill County Courthouse at more than $17 million.
The figure is based on a building audit conducted in May. The 58,000-square-foot facility, built in 1964, is three stories including the basement, and has undergone various remodeling projects over the years.
The state study, conducted by Hennebery Eddy Architects, estimates the total amount needed for repairs and additions at 48 courthouse facilities across Oregon at more than $820 million. In terms of the overall ranking, which took into account multiple criteria, the local courthouse placed right in the middle, earning a ranking of 24.
Among the components of the structure requiring "excessive" or "significant" upgrades were the heating and ventilation system, which was also among the most expensive, requiring $2.2 million of work; the air conditioning system, plumbing, the fire sprinkler system, judicial chambers and public waiting areas.
